And now we already have such a book in our hands. Now I will tell you how to find books, how to download and how to read. Here is the first and easiest way to start reading. More advanced methods I will consider in the future ...

For reference, Kindle supports the following e-book formats .AZW .AZW1 .TXT .MOBI .PRC .PDF

Using

Connect your Kindle via USB, and copy your books to the Documents folder.

• New documents / books are added to the first positions marked “new”.

Hold the power button at the bottom

7-10 seconds until the screen turns white.

• Press the key sequence: Home> Menu> Settings> Menu> Restart
• If the Kindle freezes, hold the power button on the bottom of the device for

20-30 seconds, a reboot will occur.

1. Press the key sequence: Home> Menu> Settings> Menu> Reset to Factory Defaults
2. Confirm the reset.

IMPORTANT. Before resetting, copy the Documents folder to your PC, as All downloaded files will be deleted permanently!

If there is an open Wi-Fi wireless network nearby (home or public access point) that automatically distributes IP addresses, then connecting the Kindle 4 to it is very simple - press the “Menu” button and select “Turn Wireless On”.

If you couldn’t connect in this way, then try a slightly more complicated option:

1. Home> Menu> Settings> Wi-Fi Networks (view) ...
2. Confirm that the wireless module is turned on if you haven’t turned it on in advance (Menu> Turn Wireless On).
3. If necessary, run a scan (rescan) of available networks.
4. Connect to the desired one (connect) or disconnect (forget).
5. Close the Wi-Fi Networks panel (close) or simply return to the Home screen.

If the Wi-Fi wireless network is hidden, access to it is limited by password, static IP addresses, encryption key (s) are used, then:

1. Home> Menu> Settings> Wi-Fi Networks (view) ...
2. Confirm that the wireless module is turned on if you haven’t turned it on in advance (Menu> Turn Wireless On).
3. We follow the link "enter other Wi-Fi networks" ...
4. Enter the network name (SSID) and password.
5. If this is not enough, then click “advanced” and specify the network name (SSID), connection type (DHCP / Static), connection parameters (IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS), for static IP addresses, key ( i) encryption (WEP / WPA / WPA2), if necessary.

If access to the Wi-Fi wireless network is limited to devices with specific MAC addresses, add the MAC address (Home> Menu> Settings> Device Info) of your Kindle 4 to the list of allowed or disable this restriction in the settings of the access point, if you have access, or ask the system administrator to do this.

After a successful connection, you can check the browser’s performance: Home> Menu> Experimental> (launch browser), select the bookmark (Bookmarks) or follow the link (Enter URL) by entering it using the on-screen keyboard.

If Kindle 4 is registered, then within 60 seconds, after connecting to a wireless Wi-Fi network, downloading of user content that was sent to @ Kindle.com will begin

1. Go to the settings menu: Home> Menu> Settings> Device Language (on second page 2)
2. Change the language from English (Unated States) to English (United Kingdom)

4. Verify that the file has been moved (copied) completely and disconnect the device from the computer.
5. Start the firmware update process (Home> Menu> Settings> Menu> Update Your Kindle) and confirm (Ok).
6. The Kindle will reboot twice during a firmware update. Then you can check the result (Home> Menu> Settings> Version: Kindle ...).

Without conversion, the Kindle supports AZW, MOBI, PRC, PDF, and TXT (Unicode).
To display books, download them to the Documents folder on your device.

To do this, you can use one of the many Internet sites where there are books in the .mobi format - this is the original reading format for the Kindle. Then you download books, and everything is dropped into the Documents folder.

Convert them using Caliber (http://calibre-ebook.com/)
1.You need to install the Caliber program, then upload all the books to it and press the Convert button - General conversion - Select the Mobi format in the upper right corner and click OK.

2. After the conversion is completed, click the Save to disk - Save only Mobi format button and select the Documents folder on your Kindle.

Or you can use the online service http://ebook.online-convert.com/convert-to-mobi.

1. Position the cursor on the book you want to remove from the Kindle.
2. Press the left button on the joystick.
3. Confirm deletion by the central button of the joystick

1. Register your Kindle: Home> Menu> Settings> Registration (register)
2. Go to Home> Menu> Create New Collection
3. Open the on-screen keyboard with the “Keyboard” key and enter the name of the collection.

1. Place the cursor on the book.
2. Press the right button on the joystick.
3. See the original title of the book, authors, and file name.
4. Other operations with the book: add to the collection (Add to Collection ...), go to the last page to be read (Go to Last Page Read), go to the beginning of the book (Go to Beginning), go to the page (Go to Page ...), search for a document / book (Search This Document), notes and citations (Notes & Marks), delete a document / book (Delete This Document / Remove from Device).

1. Pack the pictures (GIF, JPG, PNG) into the ZIP archive with a simple list without directories and upload the archive to the Documents directory. Each such file will be perceived by Kindle as a separate “book” consisting of picture sheets.
2. Send the image (GIF, JPG, PNG) for conversion via @ kindle.com and receive it in AWZ format, after connecting to a Wi-Fi wireless network.

For Kindle Touch users:

1. Create a DOC / HTML file from the pictures (GIF, JPG, PNG) and send it for conversion via @ kindle.com, get it in AWZ format, after connecting to the Wi-Fi wireless network and scroll through as a book with picture pages.
2. Pack pictures (GIF, JPG, PNG) into a ZIP archive with a simple list without directories and send them for conversion via @ kindle.com, receive them as separate AWZ files, after connecting to a Wi-Fi wireless network. 3. Only for 5.1.0. Create a directory “images”, and in it subdirectories or ZIP-archives with pictures (GIF, JPG, PNG) of size 600x800.
